Terms of Use

These terms apply to everyone who uses Tips4IELTS, including students and teachers.

1. About these terms

By using Tips4IELTS, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information.

2. Using the site

Students can study the lessons for free without an account. Students without an account cannot log in, and their progress is not saved to an account. Student accounts are created by teachers.

3. Teacher subscriptions

  • A teacher subscription costs $15 per month and includes up to 50 student accounts.
  • Payments are taken by PayPal and renew automatically each month until cancelled.
  • You can cancel at any time in your PayPal account under Automatic payments. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • If PayPal suspends your subscription, for example after failed payments, your account and your students' accounts stop working until the subscription is active again.
  • Payments already made are not refunded for part of a month, except where the law requires it.
  • If the price changes, we will tell you before the new price applies.
  • Deleting an account on this site does not cancel your PayPal subscription.

4. Teachers' responsibilities

  • You are responsible for the student accounts you create and for how you use your students' information.
  • You must have any permission that is needed to create an account for a student, including from a parent or guardian where a student is a child.
  • You must only upload pronunciation recordings of your own voice, or recordings you have permission to use.

5. Your account

Keep your login details private and do not share your account with other people. You are responsible for what happens under your account.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • copy, resell or republish our lessons, except for use with your own students on this site;
  • try to get around the login or subscription systems, or interfere with the site;
  • submit or upload anything unlawful, abusive or that infringes someone else's rights.

7. Our content

The lessons, model answers and exercises belong to Tips4IELTS or are used with permission. Some activities are adapted from British Council and Cambridge teaching materials, and these are credited on the lesson pages.

8. About IELTS

Tips4IELTS is independent. It is not affiliated with, approved or endorsed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia or Cambridge University Press & Assessment. Practice topics and questions are based on reports from students. They are not official IELTS materials, and they may not appear in your test.

9. No guarantee of results

We aim to help students improve, but we cannot guarantee any particular band score. Your result depends on many things, including your starting level and how much you study.

10. Availability and liability

We try to keep the site working and accurate, but we provide it “as is” and cannot promise that it will always be available or free from errors. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, and our total responsibility to a teacher is limited to the subscription fees they paid in the previous three months. Nothing in these terms limits any rights that cannot legally be limited, including your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

11. Ending an account

We may suspend or delete an account that breaks these terms. When an account is deleted, its data is deleted as described in our Privacy Policy. Deleting a teacher account also deletes that teacher's student accounts.

12. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update this page and change the date at the top. By continuing to use the site, you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of South Australia, Australia, and the courts of South Australia have jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If you live in another country, this does not remove any consumer rights you have there that cannot legally be excluded.
